Charcoal Portrait of Max and Milo - From Start to Finish

Charcoal Portrait of Max and Milo - From Start to Finish

I drew the gorgeous Max and Milo as another small charcoal sketch and it was a Christmas present for one of Claire at Jets Doggy Day Care's customers. They're both very pale in colour so I used mostly light and medium charcoal with just a bit of dark charcoal to bring out the detail in their eyes and noses and add a bit of depth to the portrait. They were mounted in the textured off-white mount which I think looks really smart. See the portrait developing in the video below:

Charcoal Portrait of Lola the Weimaraner - From Start to Finish

I drew Lola the Weimaraner for Claire at Jets Doggy Day Care who wanted Christmas gifts for her best customers. Claire gave me a fantastic photo of Lola on her walk - I love the expression on her face and she was so much fun to draw. She was drawn as one of my new small portrait sketches and mounted in an off-white textured mount which looks really smart. This is the portrait progressing:

Charcoal Portrait of Sadie - From Start to Finish

Sadie was one of my commissions for Claire from Jets Doggy Day Care - she wanted Christmas presents for her customers! It was fun drawing Sadie from such a cute photo. She was drawn as a small charcoal portrait sketch and completed with an off-white textured mount. Apparently there were tears when she was received! You can see her developing in the below video:

Charcoal Portrait of Buzz and Dory the Black Labradors - From Start to Finish

This lovely portrait of Buzz and Dory was commissioned by Claire from Jets Doggy Day Care for one of her favourite customers and close friends. I did the portrait as a medium sized portrait sketch using two separate images of Buzz and Dory and it took me around eight hours to complete. I was really pleased with the finished piece - black dogs can sometimes be quite hard to capture in charcoal but I love how this turned out! Claire and her husband Nigel were delighted with the finished article and so were the recipients of the drawing. See the...

Charcoal Portrait of Sparrow the Wire Haired Dachshund - From Start to Finish

Charcoal Portrait of Sparrow the Wire Haired Dachshund - From Start to Finish

Sparrow was my second commission from the lovely Sue - she had previously asked me to draw her greyhound Mollie who had sadly died in 2017. After Sparrow gave birth to puppies in late 2017, her owner who was a friend of Sue's kindly gave one of them to Sue after she lost Mollie. Sue wanted me to draw a portrait of Sparrow to give her friend as a thank you gift. Sparrow was such a pleasure to draw - just look at those soulful eyes! I drew her as a medium sized portrait sketch and displayed her in...
